Smart Pups Puppy Pen Upgrade: Supporting Spaces That Change Lives

That’s why we’re proud to support the team at Smart Pups with their puppy pen upgrade project through the supply of SurePave.
Smart Pups is an incredible organisation dedicated to training assistance dogs for children with special needs, helping create greater independence, confidence and connection for families across Australia. Their work changes lives, and we’re grateful to play a small part in helping improve the spaces where these future assistance dogs learn and grow.
Creating Safer, Smarter Puppy Pens
The upgrade project is transforming the existing puppy pens into more durable and enrichment-focused spaces designed to better support the wellbeing and development of the pups in training.
As part of the resurfacing works, SurePave is being installed beneath the new turf system to help create a stronger, more stable and free-draining foundation for the pens. The goal is to create a safer and more practical surface while solving a very real challenge – preventing the pups digging for rocks!
In high-use outdoor spaces like these, uneven ground, worn patches and poor drainage can quickly become ongoing maintenance issues. By reinforcing the ground beneath the turf and supporting natural drainage, the SurePave system helps create a more resilient surface that can better handle daily activity while maintaining a natural grass finish.
For projects like this, that means:

- A more durable surface for active pups

It’s a great example of how practical landscape solutions can quietly solve everyday problems while helping create outdoor spaces that feel natural, functional and built to last.
Built Through Collaboration
One of the most rewarding parts of this project has been seeing so many people come together to help make it happen.
A key part of the project has been the involvement of trainees from the Noosa Community Training Centre (NCTC), who have been helping bring the upgrade to life. NCTC provides practical training, support and employment pathways for local people facing barriers to work, helping participants develop skills, confidence and real-world experience through meaningful community projects. Their contribution to the Smart Pups puppy pens reflects the organisation’s commitment to creating opportunities that benefit both individuals and the wider community, while delivering projects that make a lasting local impact.
It’s a reminder that great outdoor spaces are rarely built alone.
