SmartMat nonwoven is a lightweight black landscape geotextile which serves for many landscaping uses such as stabilising ground under paths or driveways, minimising weeds and soil separation. This nonwoven needle punched geotextile lets water and essential nutrients permeate through the fabric, which improves drainage without soil degradation, while simultaneously deterring weed growth.
SmartMat geotextile can be installed with no special tools required. The fabric is designed to last for years and will not tear or fray, ensuring your backyard looks and stays beautiful with minimal effort or ongoing maintenance.
SmartMat black geotextile is excellent to use under decks to prevent weeds growing through the cracks.

Can this be used to line a raised garden?
Yes! Our SmartMat geotextile provides a fantastic barrier between the soil and timber which stops the soil or insects escaping through potential cracks that form.
Will it be okay in the sun?
All weedmats deteriorate in sunlight. While SmartMat is UV treated for longevity, we recommend covering as soon as you lay it with mulch, bark or stones.
Can SmartMat Landscape Fabric be used as a separation layer under gravel paths etc.
Yes, it is ideal for that.
Does it come in any other colours?
No, however if you want white, we suggest using our geotextile range which is a bit thicker, but will do the same job.
